Sunday Scrolls: April 18th

If you need a hug today, I’m glad you’re here. This edition of Scrolls feels like a warm squeeze and we are so thankful to spend some time with you! We’re in the kitchen making coconut cookie balls, sharing some hit-you-in-the-feels wisdom to set you up for the best mindset in the week ahead, and a long list of our favorite five-star finds of the week!

Make It.

These are addictive, scrumptious little nuggets that take very little effort, and last in the fridge for weeks! I have the worst sweet tooth after meals and they do the trick and don’t pack the guilt. Plus, I’d be willing to bet you have all of these staples in your pantry:

Easy No-Bake Coconut Balls (Vegan, Gluten-Free & Keto-friendly!):
  • 1 cup coconut flour
  • 1/3 cup melted coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup agave nectar
  • juice of 1 lime
  • 2 cups unsweetened coconut
  • Blend all of these ingredients together on high for 3 minutes. Add a little liquid if you’re having a hard time blending (extra lime juice, vanilla, or coconut milk works!).
  • Roll into bite-sized balls and freeze for 5 minutes.
  • While you’re waiting for them to set, melt 1 cup of chocolate with one teaspoon of coconut oil.
  • Dunk or drizzle your balls and top with cinnamon, more coconut, or sea salt!

Watch It.

I may have said a time or two that I didn’t watch a ton of cartoons or movies growing up, and as an adult, most animated TV is still not my jam. But one morning this week, we all woke up super early, and Jon put Inside Out on as we were making breakfast. I couldn’t pull myself away. This was such a fantastic family movie and a wonderful way to look at, make sense of, and talk to each other about feelings. As we try to teach Grey that all feelings (good and “bad”) have a place and a purpose, it kept that dialogue going and was such a sweet way to see, and feel, them all.

Read It.

I almost didn’t include Mrs. Everything in Scrolls this week. I stumbled upon it at the library under the category of “Librarians’ favorites” and thought the quick blurb in the jacket sounded interesting. What I didn’t realize at first, was that it is written by the same author as the book we featured last week. That might have caused me to leave it for someone else to check out, but as it unfolded, I’m glad I gave it a shot. The details alone were so well developed and transfixing and I found Jennifer Weiner’s writing in this one to be far superior to Big Summer. The way she follows the sisters in this story through the most difficult parts of their lives takes you on such a rollercoaster of emotions. A quick, easy, nothing left behind 9/10 ⭐️

Listen to It.

Don’t let the title stop you from listening. I’ll admit, I gave it a bit of an eye roll at first. Anything with labels these days feels almost like click-bait, sometimes forced and pushy. This one didn’t turn out that way, for me. My biggest takeaway was let’s celebrate the everyday moments more. Like the example she gives of drinking coffee. Some days, instead of drinking it with “masculine intention” and pounding it just for the jolt; let’s savor it, take in the aroma and robust flavors, really experience it, as Michelle Miller defines leaning in to the “femininity” of it. And this isn’t a for-women-only thing. We all have feminine and masculine components that we utilize in different ways. Such an interesting perspective!

Feel It.

Try It.

Let’s give in to the wanderlust for a minute – Dream Destinations for Families!

Are you an introvert or an extrovert? Maybe you’re neither, and an ambivert – a new to me term that I can totally get behind.

We’ve been using these for park picnics and also as pool towels – they are so lightweight & soft! And since we keep them on hooks outside on the patio, they double as decor 🤩.

I live for a good wallpaper and this one is next-level good. Especially if you’re designing a fabulous closet, maybe a girl’s bedroom 😍😍?!

What happened when one woman wrote 365 thank you cards in a year.

I mix this with moisturizer so my pale parts have a little more glow. An instant mood-booster imagining we went on vacation somewhere luxe 😆.

We are on a bigtime coconut kick lately and this plant-based protein powder is what I shared in our smoothie recipe we posted to the ‘gram this week. I wish they sold it in a larger container 😩 It is SO delicious and tastes like a treat!

Grey needed some new “dress shorts” for church and the price was so good we grabbed two pairs – pink and white. The quality is 💯, and they are too cute with the belt!

Have you seen this clean bronzer? I’ve been trying to swap more of the products I use on my skin to cleaner versions and this bronzer and blush combo has been so refreshing (and bright!).

Add these to your book queue if you loved Bridgerton as much as we did!

How to read a wine label. Experts reveal all the tricks we need to know to find the highest quality wine at the best price.

Speaking of wine - my step-dad Chris turned 60 this weekend and my family took him on a wine tour to celebrate. He is the kind of guy who knows everyone in town, and no one has a bad word to say about. He's fun to be around, kind, thoughtful, and Jon's best buddy. We were so sad not to be there celebrating with all of them. As an awesome surprise, my mom had these cardboard heads made of me, Jon and Grey, and they took us along for the ride! Throughout the day they sent us texts and pictures of what our heads were up to, and I have to say, it was the next best thing to being there. A really fantastic idea if you have loved ones who live far away and you want to include them! Happy Birthday, Chris, we love you!

Loved your quote about becoming the woman you’d want to mentor your daughter…wow! That one really hit home. 😊

Thank you, Jody! Same. I always think about that (even though Grey is a boy 😆). Hope you’re having a terrific start to your day!
